Beurer By40 Electric Breast Pump

• Unpack the pump and ensure all components are present (motor unit, pump attachment, tubing, bottle, cushion, adapters for Avent/Nuk bottles, mains adapter & 4× AA batteries).
• Clean & sterilise all parts that will contact breast milk (bottle, pump attachment, cushion, valve). The motor unit should not be sterilised.

Assemble the device:

• Screw the pump attachment onto the bottle firmly.
• Insert the silicone tube into the pump attachment and motor unit.
• Choose the correct cushion size (medium is provided).
• Power options: Use the mains adapter or 4× AA batteries.

How to Use (Pumping)

• Sit in a comfortable, relaxed position; lean slightly forward to help milk flow.
• Place the breast shield with the silicone cushion gently on your breast, ensuring the nipple is centred and there are no air pockets. The shield must be pressed firmly to the breast for proper suction.
• Switch on the pump. It will start in Stimulation mode (2-minute timer) to encourage let-down.
• After stimulation, switch to Expression (pumping) mode. Use the + / – buttons to adjust suction/stimulation level to what is comfortable. The BY 40 offers 10 stimulation levels + 10 pumping levels.
• Pump until milk flow slows significantly or the bottle shows ~180 ml (as recommended in the manual) per breast. Then switch or stop.
• Use the memory function: the pump recalls your last used level for next time.
• After use, turn the pump off. The unit also features an automatic shut-off after ~30-60 minutes.
